Are you obsessed with perfect?

Do you feel as though you let yourself down when things don’t go to plan or doesn’t go the way you thought it would go and then you start beating yourself up?

If we leave no room for error, then no matter what challenge we take on, the end result is that we will almost always be disappointed which damages our self-esteem. Self-esteem is influenced by how much you value yourself for who you are, your self-worth comes from within. Each time you berate yourself unfairly, remember that you are weakening your self-esteem. While it is important to be responsible for our own actions and to take control of our lives, it is also just as important to realise that we all make mistakes and that life is a learning curve. Try to avoid harsh self-judgment, such as “I’m rubbish at this task” or “I am not good enough to do this” ask yourself if the statement that’s in your head is actually true!

The truth is we can never fully be in control of the end result anyway, which makes the path far more interesting and challenging. Have a go at being a bit more flexible with yourself mind wise, don’t over criticise when things are a bit shaky the first time around. Go ahead and do whatever you want to do to follow your desired path. Forget what the naysayers say, they aren’t you and do it for yourself.

Remember life would be dull if everything went right, step back, give yourself some space to rethink it over again. The most important thing is that we are doing the best that we can in he situation that we have been given.

A little Dru yogic self-practice I like to use when I’m feeling stressed and need to calm down is Anahata Breath. Anahata is the heart chakra. You can either sit or stand while practicing this. I advise that you keep your spine straight and upright to allow your lungs to be open to breath. Bring your hands in front of your heart, like you are holding onto a golden ball of light, breath in through your nose and as you exhale out, turn your palms away from you and gently push out. Breath in, draw your palms towards you, breath out draw your palms away from you. Carry on with this method for 5 to 10 minutes. Come up with a positive statement, Sankalpa, affirmation. I have written a couple down here to give yourself an idea of what you could say.

I am all that I need to be

I am in control of my destination

On soul level, I release all fear of failure

All my obstacles to my life goals are being dissolved

Take care…
