Autumn is a season that corresponds very much to the lungs according to Chinese medicine. In the Indian Ayurvedic tradition, autumn is linked predominantly with air, space and wind. The wind brings an amazing change of energy, blowing the old and bringing in the new. A new season can bring a sense of dread, we are losing light fast, the dark nights are coming in. Another way of looking at this amazing change of season is to embrace it with a gusto and be brave. We need to ground ourselves in the season of Vata and what better way to do that than to go out and enjoy the wind and rain, it can be so refreshing when we just open our arms out to it and accept it for what it is. Don’t worry about getting your hair wet and smelling like an old dog, its great fun to be a child about it and splash about in the puddles. There is a saying that goes, there is no such thing as bad weather, just a bad choice of clothing. So get your walking boots on and a good water proof and go for a walk, smell the autumn air, take some pics on your phone and share them on your social media.
Let’s celebrate what we have done over the summer months, think about those amazing memories that you have created for life! Autumn brings us a new harvest of fabulous fruits and veggies. I look forward to root vegetables which helps to ground me when we put them in stews. My previous blog looked at the health benefits of elderberries and elderberry syrup and who doesn’t like apple or pear scrumping eh. So, lets enjoy and embrace our amazing new season, autumn here we come! Yipee!!
